1st Canadian Women In The Wind Chapter ~Est. 1988
In the late 1980's, Lin Litousky was tired of being one of the few female motorcyclists on rides and other events. She wanted to be able to share the thrill of biking with other women and to experience the same camaraderie as the male riders. She was, therefore, thrilled to see an advertisement in the Canadian Biker magazine for a Ladies Only Motorcycle Club. She contacted the women and on June 18, 1988, the Edmonton Chapter of Women In The Wind had their first ride. Since that time the chapter has seen some ups and downs in membership but whether up or down the direction has always been forward.
The Women in the Wind (WITW) purpose is to:
We meet once a month for meetings, have scheduled chapter events and participating in a number of charity events like the Edmonton Toy Run
Members -- requirements are being female and most important, having an interest in "motorcycling" and a motorcycle.
Benefits -- of being a member are many. These include:
Best of all, many new friendships are formed.
Do I Need to Have Access to a Bike to be a Member?
The requirement for a chapter membership is to have a motorcycle license or in the process of obtaining one.
How Do I Go About Getting My First Bike?
If you haven't already done this, contact your local motorcycle safety school. How you choose that bike is then best up to you. Generally, it's a good idea to
feel your feet touch the ground when standing still and know that it's a bike you're comfortable riding.
What do I get with my membership?
All members can wear WITW logo gear, including the shoulder patch sporting the lady logo.
May Men Join?
